Georgetown International Academy
Georgetown International Academy (GIA) is a close-knit school community committed to a vision of academic excellence, global awareness, and empowering well-rounded individuals who are educated for success in life. The highly-qualified, multinational faculty strives to realize this vision daily by challenging students intellectually while supporting their physical, social, and emotional well-being. Working in partnership with parents, GIA also encourages students to develop an appreciation for and understanding of the unique and diverse culture of Guyana as well as to celebrate the diversity of the more than 25 nationalities on campus. Tomorrow’s diplomatic, business, educational, and scientific leaders are enrolled in our school today. GIA was founded in 1971 to provide an American based education in Guyana for U.S. embassy families. Over time the school grew to serve the larger international community in Georgetown. As the only U.S. accredited educational institution in the country, we look within and beyond Guyana to benchmark our programs, faculty, facilities so that we can offer the most robust academic and extracurricular programs of any school in the country.
